So... Corrupted muses.
I’ve mostly been looking at my Square muses over at guardiansofeternia and adversitiesflower, but it really can go into my Persona, Voltron, and OC muses too. Cause hah. Of course it can.
Strap in. This is gonna get long || @astralechoes
Primrose Azelhart -
Picture this: Prim didn’t meet with the others and went to journey on to find the crows on her own. She gets as far as “meeting” with Simeon in Obsidian Manse, and being left to die after he stabs her.
When she awakens from the ordeal, she’s broken and can’t think straight. She begins to think that she’s been betrayed by everyone she has loved and her thirst for revenge suddenly looms over Osterra as a whole.
“They did nothing, and their silence holds the same weight as murder...
Primrose, convinced that she truly has nothing to lose, now hunts Simeon but she has no care in the world of who stands in her way. Her mentality is at a constant ‘it’s either you’re in my way or out of it...’
She’s learned to be a beast fighter, but she dabbles (and finds some sick enjoyment) with poisons.
______
H’aanit -
Honestly, one of the only ways for me to really see someone like H’aanit to be corrupted is if she was possessed by a Yokai.
I mean, it’s not news that I have this world where all my muses interact, and one of those very muses is Yoko from Bravely Second, so...
What’s to say that Yoko really managed to mind break H’aanit? The seeds of fear and doubt as sown so deep that H’aanit’s faith weavers... And that’s where Yoko gets her. She’s offered a weapon that will help make her stronger, but it ends up taking her arm, making her really useless as a Huntress with a bow and arrow.
Linde had to hunt for her for the while she was recovering, but nightmares made it difficult for her to sleep. Eventually, she was met with a Yokai who promises H’aanit a second chance, and in her desperate and sleep deprived state, she agrees willingly.
The possession gave H’aanit this feral mentality; she began acting like a hungry beast, and slowly began losing herself in the possession. She learns to live with it however, but the life she has now is only sustainable by blood.
tbh idk what was going on here. I’m just spouting dumb stuff
Keith shouted his order, but he still ended up launching himself over towards her to get cover inside one of the caves he spotted as they ran. Instinctively, he held her flush against him, and maneuvered himself so he would hit the ground with his back first. As they tumbled in, the blast of base was loud enough to shake and reverberate through the quarry they escaped.
Both Keith and Allura were huffing for air, but his grip on her never loosened up despite being safe… Still, she didn’t seem to mind.
Once she had calmed herself enough to speak, Allura lifted her head to find Keith still gasping for air.
“You can let go now, you know. It might be easier for you to catch your breath without me on you.” the princess lifted herself from his grip to sit next to him. She brushed his bangs out of his face, and gently cupped his face to redirected his attention to her.
He offered him a smile while she caressed his cheek, “Thank you for saving us back there.”
Allura took a few steady breaths as she stood behind the curtain. She knew that her friends were waiting for her on the other side with Coran and Lotor, this fact made it easy for her to walk out… But another was enough to anchor her in place.
Aside from her friends waiting for her just beyond the curtain, she also had to face the whole of New Altea and the guests that flew in to witness her coronation. It was a nerve wrecking thought, and she thought that she’d be ready for this when it came… Seems like she still needed a few ticks to really let it sink in, and she sunk deeper and deeper into her head space as she had to wonder if she was really ready to lead her nation.
“Allura?” the call of her name guided her back to the present, and she found Shiro in front of her when she fully returned from her mental trip. He placed his hands on her shoulders, “You okay?”
“Kind of?” she answered quickly, “Am I… I guess I’m just wondering if I’m really ready to rule over New Altea… What if I’m not ready?”
A moment of silence blossomed between them as her question elicited a surprised expression from the taller male. Soon, however, his surprised melted into a soft smile. His hands trailed down her arms to grip her hands in his, and with three squeezes, he simply answered, “You are ready. We all believe in you.”
Allura’s heart swelled and a new found confidence bloomed within her. She gave Shiro a nod, and he guided her out to the balcony to present the Queen of New Altea.
Emmeryn knew her appeal to the noble humans of New Ilyas. She was one of the last known ‘hybrid’ women of the Great Plains, and the speculation that she was one of the First Pantheon’s reincarnate made her that much more desirable... Well, that and the high bounty that hung over her head seemed worth the trouble in capturing her.
Today, however, was no day for hiding in the shadows. She needed to raise her peoples’ morale as best as she could, and what better way than to appear in the Capitol’s Festival? Many in her group warned her that this was a suicide mission, but Emmy didn’t seem to care. She needed her people to know that they were still there fighting for their freedom. The few who were brave enough to travel freely through the stall filled streets donned their cloaks, and followed their idiot dragon princess into a different sort of battlefield.
The mages followed close behind Emmy, their eyes wandering to the stalls where vendors sold propagated merchandise to the unwilling masses. It disgusted them to see how much hate could send an entire race to exterminate others that they simply didn’t understand. The longer they stayed, the more they felt unsafe. When one of the mages went to reach for their princess, they gripped air.
“Emmeryn? Emmeryn, where are... Oh, Holy the Age of the First Flame..” just as he called for the dragon kin, he had already found her taking stage in the middle of the courtyard. Her cloak still on her, but with a breath of blue fire, she removed it slowly to reveal her tribe’s traditional dancer’s dress, the jewels that dripped from her neck and headpiece, and her dragon features were there for all to see-- her horns, tail, feathered ears, and folded wings were hard to ignore.
Gasps bounced and reverberated through the sudden still square as on-lookers began to back away in fear of what this monster would do to them. Guards rushed to the stage with their weapons in hand to point to the girl, but with a simple sway of her hips, the guards backed away.
She raised her hands, feeling the phantom melodies of her slaughtered people as she danced. There was another gasp when she casted a spell to have two blue flamed fireballs follow her movements in the choreography. Despite their fear, Emmeryn had them all watching her every movement... The faintest of smiles would appear when she noticed the knight that murdered her village take a hypnotized step towards her.
Emmy closed the gap between them, allowing their bodies to flush and move together as she guided him through the dance. As they ended, she immediately noticed a new audience member and with a flip to land in a split, she flashed a toothy grin. This look becoming increasingly threatening as her pupils began to transform into slits. A chuckle escaped her as she swung her leg around to begin crawling towards the edge of the stage.
“Came to watch a shameful woman like me dance, Your Majesty??”
Don’t Go - Alternate || Saying it kindly and softly
An inhumane scream ripped out of the Princess. She held onto her head and took a few sloppy steps backwards, but she remained upright albeit stumbling to get a grip.
To her team, it were as though a switch flipped and Allura transformed into someone-- into something different.
Her teeth were bared, and her fighting stance and style reverting into something feral. She wasn’t the poised Princess they knew... It wasn’t obvious at first, but when she shot her furious gaze back up to the team, they say the purple glow in her eyes.
She was being controlled.
One by one, Allura miraculously manged to take down each of her Paladins-- leaving Shiro her last opponent. Her fatigue did get the best of her, making it fairly easy for the black paladin to over take her.
She felt her body being pinned down, and it was then that she heard it again-- the softest of voices beckoning her back to reality.
“ Allura, don’t go. ”
She screamed again as she wrestled with the entity that controlled her. Allura didn’t want to hurt her friends, and Shiro was being that anchor for her again.
As her body struggled against him, thrashing and wriggling under his hold, she’d let out one more pained scream before going completely silent-- her body going limp.
‘ Don’t go. ’ She heard again against the darkness. Allura knew that she needed to wake up, so with all the strength she could muster, she opened her eyes to find Shiro staring back at her.
“I-I’m not... Going... Anywhere... I’m... Sorry...” sadly, she was too weak to offer a smile. Instead, she slipped back to sleep.
It was a sunny spring afternoon in Clearbrook when Zeph decided to settle down for lunch. He stopped at the bridge, leaning on the stone railing as he reached into his rucksack for the sandwich Nina had packed him earlier that morning.
As his thought circled around his sister, he soon found himself thinking about his dearest friend, Alfyn. It felt like an eternity since he last saw him, but the memories of it all never faded.
There’d be some days where Zeph felt so despondent that he’d write his friend, but due to the lack of knowledge where he was, exactly, he never could send them. Most of the letters were the informative kind—some spoke of his day, while others were about Nina or Mercedes.
He’d always end each letter with a simple, Your Friend, Zeph.
He sighed again as he reached into his bag to take the small bundle of letters out. There was a chuckle before he stuffed the bundle back inside, and he shoved the last of his lunch in his mouth before he decided to get back to work. As he turned, he was caught in the sights of a small child.
The boy had light brown hair, tannish-yellow eyes, freckles, and was dressed in a shirt and overalls. He stared at Zeph with curious eyes, to which Zeph returned with his own confused expression.
Just as he was about to speak, Zeph immediately noticed the cuts and scrapes on the boy’s legs and arms.
“Oh, this just won’t do! C’mere and let ol Zeph patch you up, kay?” The apothecary lifted the child to set him on the bridge’s railing so he could clean and bandage the nicks and cuts. Curiously, he looked up, “Where you from, kiddo?”
“Noblecourt.” The boy stated plainly.
Zeph quirked a brow, now feeling a bit concerned. The space between Noblecourt and Clearbrook was too grand for a child to traverse by himself. Zeph carefully disinfected a small cut as he formed his next question.
“Alrighty… Is your family close by, perhaps? Noblecourt is a long way to walk by yourself.” As his question left his lips, the apothecary steeled himself for any possible answer. It wasn’t uncommon for child to wander alone if they had no family to return to, and he really hoped that this wasn’t the case.
The boy blinked, taking the time to consider his answer. Once he was ready, he locked eyes with Zeph, “Mama and Papa are coming. I just went ahead. You’re just like him; Papa, I mean. He helps all sorts of people too!” There a sense of pride in his voice and eyes as he spoke about his father. Zeph noticed it immediately since he shared the same sentiments about his own father.
He chuckled, “I bet he’s a great guy! Does he help those in Noblecourt?”
The boy nodded feverishly, a smile spreading wide on his face, “In Noblecourt and aalllll around Osterra!!” he let out a laugh, “Daddy’s my superhero!”
Zeph laughed along with the child, his own heart swelling as he was brought back to his own memories of his dad. Soon after this, he was brought back to the memories of Alfyn. They’ve been inseparable for as long as he could remember, and he could recall the day he left. It was a bittersweet day for him, but he knew his friend’s resolve, and that was enough for him to let go.
After a moment or two of autopilot, Zeph finished tending to the boy’s scrapes and lifted him off the rail to help plant his feet on the ground.
He made the decision to help find the boy’s parents once the task was completed; however, when he was to ask which way they were coming from, the boy sprung forward to run past him.
Curious eyes followed, and he was soon face-to-face with a beautiful woman accompanied with two girls, and a very familiar face.
“A-Alfyn?” he said in slight disbelief. Slowly, Zeph drew closer to the family; Alfyn’s own expression soft but surprised.
“Heh, how serendipitous! I was just telling Prim about you! I see you’ve already met Tommy boy!” Alf chuckled, pulling in his friend in a hug that was long overdue. When the parted, Alfyn gestured to the women that clustered behind him, “Zeph, this little lady is Gale, and the sleepy one on my back here is Aurora… And this wonderful woman is my wife, Primrose.”
Zeph was swept up in a little whirlwind of information, but once it all processed, Zeph wore the biggest smile.
“It’s nice to meet you all! I’m Zeph!” he offered a hand to each of the family members to give a warm handshake, “C’mon! You all must be tired. Nina and Mercedes would be delighted to see you all!”
Tom jumped up to have Zeph catch and lift him up to sit him on his shoulders. They all made small talk all the way to Zeph’s residence—Zeph feeling incredibly happy that he was able to see his friend again.
“So, remind me what I’m eating again, Starshine?” Mila probed the mystery meat that was stacked on the plate. She was so focused on the food that when the shrimp like beasts on the plate next to her screeched, Mila nearly jumped out of her seat.
It was obvious that Mila hasn’t traveled much before; most times she’d be hiding away to keep the authorities from catching her. Deep down, she was glad to be able to travel with a King’s guard… It’s just easier to get away with things!
This, however, was one rare instance that she couldn’t play off, and Lena knew this. Mila eyed her companion, narrowing her gaze as she waited for Lena to seize her laughter.
After a moment or two, Mila lowered herself to sit back down on the Atlantian cushion and Lena managed to calm her giggle fit.
“Oh, Mila… You’re a gem,” the brunette finally managed once she had enough oxygen to form a sentence, “Don’t forget to eat the head. That’s where all the nutrients are!” Mila grew pale as she watched Lena pull one of the multi-eyed shrimps from off the plate to rip off the creature’s head to devour the body first before tossing the head in her mouth.
Mila had to hold her stomach to keep from vomiting.
Lena only shook her head, her smile still plain on her face as she pushed the plate of mystery meat closer to her pale friend. “Here then, try this. It tastes like beef liver, and it’s cooked.”
Quietly, the blonde looked back at the plate the Atlantian chef set before her. The meat still had steam rolling off it as she poked the skewer through. It felt tender, seeing as it sunk in effortlessly.
After counting to three, Mila fed herself; slowly coming to the realization that it did taste like beef liver. She fed herself one after another, finally realizing how hungry she actually was.
“What is this dish made of, Starshine?” Mila asked absentmindedly, she stopped eating when she heard the smallest of chuckles come from her friend, “Oh God… What is it?”
Lena only shook her head as she dug into some of the purple lobster, “I think the translation is The Great Flood Beast. It’s the—“
Mila chucked a noodle to stop Lena from speaking, “Nope. No, no, no… Nevermind. Don’t tell me. I rather not know… I’ll just relish in the fact that I can eat something in the Lost City.”
The comment made Lena laugh again, but this time she was joined by her friend. Both girls soon fell into small talk with the locals as they dined alongside them.
“Are those slippers?” - “Is that you being mean? AGAIN?” (Ann and Rise, based on what we discussed on discord :3 )
Drabble Challenge !
Triggers: None !
Rise met Ann at a fashion event, and ever since then, they hit it off right away. They not only had similar interests, but they shared a secret that a few would understand… And that would be the difficulties of being a female icon in the public sphere.
Ann under stood Rise’s frustrations of being called off to do shoots or music videos at random, and Rise could sympathize with the constant pressure of looking a certain way to be more desirable to the public. This similarity is what drew them close. If ever there were times where their managers badgered them to the point of a mental break, they were on the list of the first to call.
Now, it was a well-deserved day off. Rise was finished recording her new song for the day, and was off to the airport to pick up Ann. To keep paparazzi off her back, Rise dressed loosely. She figured that if Ann wanted to go around town, they could go to her place to freshen up and change.
As she pulled into the terminal pick up, she sent stopped in front of her friend to set the gears to park. Her excitement caused her to frantically exit the car to squeal and jump onto the other, taking her in her arms.
“Oh my god! You look great for someone who sat in a plane cabin for 12 hours!!!” The comment was a tease, and Ann knew this. This earned the idol a playfully shoved, and with a giggle, she helped her friend get her bags in the trunk. Rise turned to ask Ann how was the shoot, but she was surprised to find Ann staring at the floor with intense focus. “What?”
Ann pointed to Rise’s feet, mouth gaping like a fish out of water for a moment. Finally, she managed out a simple (but serious), “Of all the shoes in your closet… Are those slippers?”
Rise deadpanned. She closed the trunk before leaning over to poke her friend in forehead, “Is that you being mean? AGAIN? I’ll change if we go out, I promise!” Both girls were laughing as they walked over to the doors. Once they got in, Rise began driving off.
